Department of Physiology

The Department of Physiology at Emory University is dedicated to the use of contemporary methods to examine some of the important questions of modern physiology. The Department has two major areas of research concentration: neurophysiology and cellular and molecular physiology. This emphasis is reflected both in the research programs of individual faculty members as well as in three interdepartmental research initiatives sponsored by the Department. These research initiatives are in cell and molecular signaling, spinal cord neurophysiology, and biophysics and quantitative biology. The Department is strongly committed to fostering such interdepartmental and multidisciplinary programs that promote the development of research programs and research centers. With 24 full time faculty the Department offers a diverse research environment with many opportunities for scientific interaction and training.
