Research Statement

The mechanisms underlying the assembly and function of muscle contraction remains to be well understood.  We currently investigate the role of sarcomeric proteins and how they are assembled and maintained during muscle contraction.  Specifically, we study the proteins UNC-98, UNC-96, and UNC-97, which are essential for the linkage between the transmembrane protein integrin and the myobribrils.
